MoI donates cash for Garuna Kaba Home for Aged

The Ministry of Information organized a cash donation ceremony for the senior citizens residing at Garuna Kaba Home for the Aged in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
The ceremony was attended by Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn, Permanent Secretary U Myo Myint Maung, departmental officials, the elderly and officials of the home.
In his speech, the Union minister highlighted the donation dedicated to the senior citizens who made concerted efforts in serving the State duties, Tatmadaw members who are on the frontlines and also as an assistance to the seniors showing the noble manner of Myanmar people.
Then, he handed over K5.9 million for the home, MRTV DTH receivers, and DVB T2 set-top boxes to the person in charge of the home.
The singers of MRTV, comedian Dein Daung, one female senior citizen and one war veteran participated in the entertainment programmes.
The Union minister and officials also conducted a lucky draw event for the senior citizens.
The Union minister and party then had lunch together with the elderly.
The Union minister also inspected Sabei Hall and cordially met the elderly people.
The Garuna Kaba Home for the Aged was established for the military members who sacrificed for the country, Tatmadaw family members of fallen military members and those who lost their limbs. Currently, the home houses 200 people, including 126 male senior citizens, 58 female senior citizens, eight family members of fallen military members and seven retired military members. — MNA/KTZH
