Over 200 fires break out nationwide in Jan-Feb 2024

Between January and February 2024, there were 251 fire outbreaks nationwide, a decrease compared to previous years, as reported by the Fire Services Department (FSD).
The fires were primarily concentrated in regions including Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Ayeyawady, Magway, Sagaing, Taninthayi, and states such as Shan, Kachin, Mon, and Rakhine, according to the FSD.
Additionally, there were approximately 61 incidents caused by forest fires, branch fires, dry grass fires, and garbage dumps during this period.
In the same two-month period of January and February 2023, over 360 fires were recorded across the country, resulting in a loss value exceeding K8.1 billion.
Comparatively, there were 404 fires in January and February 2022, marking a decrease of 44 incidents this year. However, the total loss cost amounted to K2.7 billion. — TWA/TKO
