Myanmar migrants in Thailand have been invited to the celebration of one million oil lamp offering which will take place at Thailand’s famous Buddhist temple Dhammakaya on Tabodwe Full Moon Day, Māgha Pūjā Day, said a Myanmar national in Thailand.
The temple is located at Pathum Thani province in Thailand and Buddhist leaders, social organizations and more than 200,000 Buddhist devotees from around the world will come to join the festival.
Tabodwe Full Moon Day falls on 24 February and is called Ovāda-pāṭimokkha Day in Myanmar while in Thailand and other countries it is called Māgha Pūjā Day. The day is also 54th anniversary of the establishment of Dhammakaya Temple.
“Myanmar nationals in Thailand have been also invited. This festival is the biggest Buddhist festival in Thailand. Contact numbers for those who would come to the festival have been announced. A shuttle bus will be provided if there are at least 45 people,” said the Myanmar national.
The event will feature prayers and group meditation. It will also include other ceremonies — Guinness world record announcement for the world’s largest group meditation, leading monk’s recitation of Magha Puja Day mantra, marching round the Maha Dhammakaya Temple from right side by relaying lighting of Māgha Pūjā oil lamp from leading monk to his donors and offering lighting of oil lamp and making determination and saying prayers. — Htet Oo Maung/ZS/ED
