Fertilizer prices flat in domestic market in non-growing season

According to Ko Aung Tun, a fertilizer retailer from Thanlyin Township, the domestic fertilizer prices for cultivating paddy, pulses, and oilseeds such as onions and chillies are stable. The market is quiet at the beginning of this month because the planting season has not yet begun, as the Global New Light of Myanmar (GNLM) reported.
In the first week of January, GBS (50 kilogrammes per bag) was purchased at K120,000, Shwe Taung Pale fertilizer (50 kg per bag) at K76,500, a bag of Armo fertilizer at K145,000, a bag of Pale fertilizer at K78,000, and a bag of Shwe Pwa fertilizer at K75,000. At the beginning of February, GBS fertilizer (50 kg per bag) was purchased at K120,000, a bag of Shwe Taung Pale fertilizer at K76,500, a bag of Armo fertilizer at K145,000, a bag of Pale fertilizer at K78,000, and a bag of Shwe Pwa Pale fertilizer at K75,000. Fertilizer prices remain stable compared to last month.
From 20 to 26 January, Myanmar imported almost 7,500 tonnes of fertilizer valued at US$3.498 million through sea routes.
Myanmar’s fertilizer imports were higher, totalling about 7,000 tonnes compared to the previous period. The fertilizer imports came from China, Viet Nam, Thailand, Germany, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Norway, and Malaysia. — TWA/MKKS
