The Chinese Embassy to Myanmar and the Chinese Culture Centre in Yangon will organize a Chinese New Year celebration and cultural exhibition in February, announced Assistant Secretary Zhang Rui of the Chinese Embassy to Myanmar.
The celebration will feature the opening of a traditional Chinese dancing class and discussions of Myanmar students who have received scholarships in China.
Zhang Rui remarked, “The Chinese New Year festival is approaching in February. It holds great significance for the Chinese people, akin to Myanmar’s Thingyan New Year festival, symbolizing peace and prosperity. The Chinese Embassy to Myanmar and the Chinese Culture Centre in Yangon will organize the Chinese New Year celebration and cultural exhibition. The event will include various activities such as free Chinese traditional dance classes and discussions involving Myanmar students who have received scholarships in China”.
Chinese New Year 2024, celebrated by Chinese communities worldwide, will commence on 9 February, with the festival day falling on 10 February according to the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar, marking the beginning of the Wood Dragon year. According to Chinese tradition, the Wood Dragon year signifies new opportunities for employment and business, leading to success and accomplishments.
