State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Transport and Communications, General Mya Tun Oo, participated in the Naga Traditional New Year festival for 2024 in Leshi of Naga Self-Administered Zone yesterday.
During his address, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the traditions, customs, and traditional dances of the Naga people, showcased during the festival. He emphasized the importance of overcoming challenges with a sense of unity among ethnic groups, underscoring the government’s commitment to ensuring proportional development nationwide, including in ethnic regions.
The Deputy Prime Minister also discussed topics such as proper healthcare services in the Naga region, the responsibilities of government employees and local staff in enhancing the socioeconomic status of ethnic communities, agricultural matters, and the development programmes for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), in addition to the agriculture and livestock breeding sectors.
Following this, the Deputy Prime Minister visited Leshi People’s Hospital, where he provided foodstuff and cash assistance to medical staff, and interacted with local patients. He proceeded to inspect a vocational training school for women and a training school dedicated to the development of youth from border areas, meeting with the staff and trainees of both institutions.
In the evening, he participated in the Naga traditional bonfire, enjoying traditional dances. Additionally, he presented flower baskets and cash awards to the performers.
On 14 January, the Deputy Prime Minister attended sports competitions held as part of the Naga Traditional New Year festival for 2024, awarding medals and cash prizes to the winners. — MNA/KTZH
