MoSWRR Union Minister provides aid to IDPs in Kalaw District

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement Dr Soe Win provides clothes, rice, edible oil, salt, beans, instant noodles, and eggs to internally displaced people (IDPs) taking shelter at the Phayakyain Monastery in Nyaungshwe, Shan State (South), yesterday.

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement Dr Soe Win, accompanied by Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Zaw Aye, along with deputy ministers from the Ministry of Border Affairs and the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs, visited internally displaced people (IDPs) taking shelter at the Phayakyain Monastery in Nyaungshwe, Shan State (South), yesterday.
During the meeting, the Union Minister distributed shirts manufactured by the Smart Garment Factory and provided soaps. Additionally, financial assistance was offered to individuals aged over 70, people with disabilities, pregnant women, and children under the age of five.
Relevant ministries and the Shan State government provided rice, edible oil, salt, beans, instant noodles, and eggs. The Ministry of Ethnic Affairs contributed cash assistance to each household. The officials listened to the requirements of the IDPs and addressed them accordingly.
Subsequently, the Union minister and his entourage visited the Yangon Monastery in Nyaungshwe to pay respect and offer alms to the resident monks. Furthermore, they extended greetings to the IDPs housed in temporary shelters at the monastery, offering necessary assistance.
The delegation team then stopped at another shelter at the Maha Yanaung Pagoda to extend greetings and assist the IDPs.
The Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Ministry of Border Affairs, Shan State government, and Ministry of Ethnic Affairs collectively offered aid amounting to K522 million, including provisions and cash, benefiting 21,846 IDPs across Kalaw, Nyaungshwe, and Pekhon townships. — MNA/NT
