Nine-day Uppatasanti Paritta recitation ceremony held at Shwedagon pagoda

The nine-day Uppatasanti Paritta recitation ceremony is being held at Shwedagon Pagoda, according to the Pagoda Board of Trustees.
The ceremony was organized at 5:55 am on 3 January, and attended by Ovada Cariya Chairman of Yangon Region Sangha Nayaka Committee Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Agga Maha Ganthavacaka Pandita Dr Bhaddanta Aggasami, invited Sayadaws, monks and relevant officials.
After the opening ceremony, the devotees took five precepts from the Ovada Cariya Sayadaw and donated offerings to Sayadaws and monks.
The Shwedagon pagoda religious organization and staff of the pagoda will recite the Uppatasanti Paritta at the Daw Saw Mra Prayer hall at the southwest corner of the pagoda from 3 to 11 January.
Moreover, the pagoda is open to the public from 5 am to 9 pm daily. — TWA/KTZH
