Prominent places in Yangon were crowded with people who sought to recreation on the New Year 2024.
In Yangon, New Year Countdown 2024 took place at People’s Park on 31 December started from 6:00pm and many people joined, and famous movie stars, singers, DJs and dance groups performed.
In Yangon’s Thuwanabumi Event Park, another Yangon New Year Countdown was celebrated joyfully on 30 December and 31 December, and a lot of people enjoyed.
On the new year day, well-known religious places such as Shwedagon Pagoda, Botahtaung Pagoda, Kyauktawgyi Pagoda and Kabaraye Pagoda as well as famous recreational places such as People’s Park, Mahabandual Garden, City Hall, Kandawgyi Park and Inya Lake and shopping centres were full with people. Similarly, hotels, motels and guesthouses in Yangon were full on the new year eve.
“All rooms of our hotel were full yesterday. Most were already booked, that is why all rooms were full on the new year. There were people who contacted us late but we couldn’t provide room for them,” said a hotelier.
