A meeting was conducted at the 12-storey building of the Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) to raise awareness and initiate action plans for the systematic disposal and reduction of waste from industrial zones.
U Cho Tun Aung, Head of the Department of Urban Environment Conservation and Water and Sanitation stated, “Our department is actively managing the daily waste generated by the city, utilizing machinery and staff to ensure systematic disposal and reduce air, water, and soil pollution. Previously, we employed the on-call system, which resulted in undisciplined waste disposal by certain industries. We have since implemented more organized waste disposal methods. Our staff must ensure the proper execution of their cleanliness-related tasks.”
Dr Aung Myint Maw, Deputy Head of the department, explained the Action Plan project and discussed upcoming activities outlined in the Action Plan. — TWA/ TRKM
