Saung Hnin San will represent Myanmar in the Miss Earth 2023 competition to be held in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam, adorning herself with a costume dubbed as Padaukpan (gum-kino flower), according to the contestant.
Saung Hnin San will wear the costume to compete in the Costume Competition, which is part of the Miss Earth 2023 competition held for the 23rd time from 28 November to 22 December in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam.
This pageant competes with beauty pageants from more than 100 countries. Since the theme of the Miss Earth pageant is Me Love 20 Trees, the contestants from different countries must choose a plant to represent their country in designing their costume and compete.
“For this reason, I chose the Padaukpan costume as the flower symbolizes Myanmar’s New Year,” Saung Hnin San said.
The Padaukpan costume made of jute that will shape the pageant as “a beautiful young girl of Bagan period playing in the water” combines indications of costumes used by Bagan era dancers and is made as the national dress of the Miss Earth Myanmar 2023 competition.
The costume is made only with recycled materials and beautified with flowers using jute as the primary raw material.
In addition to the winner award at the Miss Earth Myanmar 2023 competition held at the Royal Mei Hua Function Hall in Yangon on 14 October 2023, Saung Hnin San also won title awards of the Miss ZN Fashion 2023, Best in Swimsuit and Miss Propolis 2023. — ASH/TH
