The opening ceremony of the Myanmar Dental Health Conference (2023) was organized in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Speaking at the event, State Administration Council Member Dr Ba Shwe highlighted the holding of the conference to enhance friendship between the dental healthcare providers, support the dental health subject, create opportunities to learn international standards, provide continuous learning opportunities, handover the skills of retired dental specialists to new generations and strengthen the cooperation between the dentists of Tatmadaw and Ministry of Health.
He also stressed the instructions of the SAC Chairman Prime Minister to save the lives of people as nothing is more important than human life, saying the government provides the needed requirements for the health of entire people and also urged to promote dental healthcare services in regions where the ethnic people are residing.
Then, Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win talked about the recruitment of human resources for dental healthcare services for different age groups, awareness campaigns for health and dental services at schools for the students to ensure the fit and stout ones in implementing the all-round development of education system and healthcare services in remote regions provided by health stuff under the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Defence.
As pre-conference activities, cleft lip and palate surgeries and free dental implants for senior people were done as the pre-conference activities.
Moreover, the Medical Services Department of the Ministry of Health will sign an MoU with the Korean University of Medicine while the University of Dental Medicine (Yangon), and the University of Dental Medicine (Mandalay) with the Khon Kaen University of Thailand during the period of the conference.
The Ministry of Health presided over the MDHSC (2023) under the theme “Quality Dental Care for Community” on 3 and 4 November. Dental specialists from five countries including Thailand, Japan, Korea and Malaysia and local specialists will deliver quality treatment systems, and the conference will include a reading session of 32 posters and 30 papers.
In the afternoon, Deputy Minister for Health Prof Dr Aye Tun attended the opening ceremony of Academic Sessions. — MNA/KTZH
