Myanmar, China vow to bolster military ties for information exchange on border security

Deputy Prime Minister Union Defence Minister Admiral Tin Aung San holds talks with the Chinese delegation led by Mr Zhang Youxia, Vice-Chairman of China’s Central Military Commission on 29 October in China.

Myanmar will continue working with the Chinese military to promote all-round cooperation between the two militaries and information exchange between the two armies to maintain stability in border areas, said State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Defence Admiral Tin Aung San.
He said at the meeting with the Chinese delegation led by Mr Zhang Youxia, Vice-Chairman of China’s Central Military Commission on 29 October before attending the 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum in China.
During the talk, Zhang said the Pauk-Phaw friendship between China and Myanmar has grown stronger than before and China will support to development of the peace processes of Myanmar and hopes that Myanmar will work with China to ensure security and stability in border areas. Moreover, China is ready to deepen the strategic mutual trust.
The Myanmar delegation attended the opening ceremony of the 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum at the Beijing International Convention Centre- BICC on 30 October and participated in Major Countries’ Responsibility and Global Security Cooperation, the Role of Developing Countries in Global Security and the ASEAN Centrality in Regional Security Cooperation Architecture.
The 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum was jointly held by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, the China Association of Military Science (CAMS) and the China Institute of International Strategic Studies (CIISS). It was attended by representatives at the defence minister level or higher, military high-ranking officers and experts from 62 countries and six international organizations such as ASEAN, EU and Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
On 31 October, the Myanmar delegation attended the Jointly Implementing the Global Security Initiatives for Lasting Peace and Security of the World event held at the Beijing International Convention Center (BICC).
Moreover, they visited the Myanmar Embassy in Beijing on the same afternoon and arrived back in Myanmar on 1 November evening. — ASH/KTZH
