A livestock census was conducted in Kya-Inn-Seikkyi Township, Kayin State in 2019.

The national livestock population census will be enumerated in 215 townships in 13 regions/states in November. This information comes from the National Livestock Census Central Committee in the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation.
It is conducted following the objective of a nationwide livestock census every five years. In the relevant regions, it is reported that 10 per cent of the townships in the provinces conducted annual interim population censuses until 2022.
The animal census enables the estimation and confirmation of the annual animal population in Myanmar. This information aids in estimating local consumption and aligning production with the demands of the foreign market, offering benefits such as the development of breeding and production plans.
To obtain accurate population numbers of animals, a systematic ground survey is needed in 17 townships in Yangon Region. The Minister of Economic Affairs for Yangon Region emphasized the importance of cooperation among related departments in implementing the enumeration work in selected villages and wards during the regional livestock census meeting on 25 October. — TWA/KZW
