Myanmar expatriates to secure EV import permits with remittances

The Ministry of Commerce allows its citizens living and working abroad to import electric vehicles and motorcycles as another measure if they transmit their salaries or other earnings to the country through the official bank.
In the statement, it said it will grant import permits for one EV per year which is equal to five per cent of remittance if those who receive regular salaries including semen make a money transfer of US$200,000 and above in a year.
If those with other kinds of earnings make money transfers of $50,000 and above in a year, they will be allowed to import electric vehicles or motorcycles that are equal to five per cent of their remittance.
The EV permits intend to ensure the widespread use of EVs and support for environmental conservation.
It will grant individual permits and group permits if the individuals do not meet the prices of vehicles. — TWA/KTZH
