One injured in collapse of Nagayon Pagoda under construction

A rescue operation is in progress in the aftermath of the Nagayon Pagoda’s collapse.

The collapse of Nagayon Pagoda, which was under construction in Dagon Myothit (North) Township, has injured one person, according to the Myanmar Fire Brigade.
The Nagayon Pagoda that has been under construction in the vicinity of the monastery near Toegyounggale Railway Station of The-ingu Pagoda Road in Ward 16 of Dagon Myothit (North) Township collapsed at 10:30 am on 25 August. The respective township fire brigade and the search and rescue team led by the Director of the Myanmar Fire Brigade conducted a rescue operation after receiving the report that a person was trapped by the collapse of the Nagayon Pagoda.
“We could rescue a man who was trapped in the collapse. Currently, he is transported to Thingangyun Sanpya Hospital by the ambulance of the Myo Oo Lulin Social Assistance Association,” said a member of the rescue team.
Further investigations are underway by relevant authorities regarding the collapse. — TWA/CT
