Urgent emphasis on mitigating profound patient impact due to medical negligence

More attention must be paid as the negligence of medical professionals can lead to huge impacts on the patients said Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win, who is also Chairman of the Central Committee on Private Healthcare Services at the committee’s Thursday meeting in Nay Pyi Taw.
He also urged all to inspect buildings, 24-hour services and intensive care, operation theatres, labour room and lab for the safety of the patients.
The healthcare workers must have a medical licence/nurse-midwifery licence granted by the respective medical council/nursing and midwife council. They must not breach any existing law. The foreign doctors/nurses also need special practising licences from respective councils for part-time services.
The government also permitted to launch of kidney transplants, dialysis, cardiac surgery and examination, cancer radiation therapy and blood transfusion at private hospitals. Currently, it grants permission to 5,124 general clinics, 1,002 special clinics and 270 general hospitals.
It also encourages to open the private health institutions successfully through a smooth process, special emphases are being made in order not to occur delays in licence issuance processes. — Htun Htun/KTZH
