Trade value via Tachilek border estimated at over $4 mln in third week of June

Myanmar’s border trade with neighbouring country Thailand via the Tachilek border amounted to US$4.058 million in the third week of June 2023, the Ministry of Commerce’s statistics indicated.
Export via the Tachilek border was worth $2.456 million while import was valued at $1.602 million between 17 and 23 June 2023.
The figures showed an increase of $0.268 million in exports and $0.078 million in imports compared to that of the previous week.
Exports of garlic, dried tea leaf and empty used plastic bottles declined, whereas the exports of corn, coffee bean, minerals and used cardboards increased.
Meanwhile, imports of auto parts, cement, agricultural machinery, air-conditioners, machines and accessories, glass as building materials, iron and steel products, mineral raw materials, zinc, tyre and tube and furniture decreased. Yet, the Tachilek border saw higher imports of electrical appliances, petroleum products, chemicals, paint and polish, construction materials, raw plastic materials and kitchen wares. — TWA/EM
