Officials seized illegal timber.

A combined team led by Township Forest Department under the supervision of Sagaing Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force captured a total of 5.914 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K887,220 in Shwebo township on 24 June. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Additionally, a combined team impounded a total of 8.572 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K1,285,920 and a motor schooner with related things worth K1.35 million at the northern part of Kayah island in Kyunsu township on 24 June. The action was taken under the Forest Law and Customs Procedures.
An on-duty team at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) confiscated two vehicles, heading to Yangon from Myawady, carrying 100 empty plastic drums worth K2 million and 430 pairs of sports shoes worth K3.44 million on 25 June. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.
Similarly, the on-duty combined teams seized eight cattle worth K5.65 million without official documents from a Dongfeng car worth K3 million, an Isuzu (worth about K13.5 million) and an unregistered Kenbo 110 car (estimated value of K150,000) at the Anawrahta bridge checkpoint in Seikpyu township and a total of 2.022 tonnes of illegal teak worth K1,334,652 in Mindon township on 25 June. The action was taken under the Important Goods and Service Law and Forest Law.
A total of 62.154 tonnes of illegal teak, 54.901 tonnes of hardwood and 9.0552 tonnes of other timbers worth K44,227,404 were captured in Bago, Toungoo and Thayawady districts on 26 June. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
An on-duty team conducted inspections at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint on 26 June and seized 5,200 kilogrammes of essence washing liquid worth K4,258,800 that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a Hino Profia tractor head and a trailer worth K45 million heading to Yangon from Myawady on 26 June. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.
Therefore, 10 arrests (estimated value of K126,083,996) were made on three consecutive days from 24 to 26 June, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee.—MNA/MKKS
