The Urea Fertilizer Purchasing, Distribution and Sales Steering Committee Chair Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe said that urea fertilizer is being distributed and sold at a price of K75,000 per 50-kilogramme bag, while compound fertilizer is priced at K115,000 per 50-kg bag.
In the year 2023-2024, a total of 4.13 million tonnes of inputs will be required for the cultivation of 10 main crops across 33.78 million acres. A total of 5.3 lakh acres have been allocated for the implementation of the monsoon paddy project in four regions, funded by the State Economic Promotion Fund. The project will require a total of 79,500 tonnes of fertilizer.
The Union Minister stated that the national government has already established the National Economic Promotion initiative to drive agricultural-based economic activities and necessary fertilizers and inputs have been provided for the agricultural production projects covering 500,000 acres of wintergreen beans and 850,000 acres of summer paddy. — Htun Htun (GNLM)/ KZW
