Brave Eagle members arrested for exploding third floor of IRD Office in Kyauktada Township

An explosion occurred at the third floor of a tax office of the Internal Revenue Department (IRD) office on Pansodan Road in Kyauktada Township, Yangon Region at 12:05 pm on 5 June. During the explosion, five staff and one civilian were injured.
Security Forces conducted the investigation and raided Room B, second floor of Apartment 27 on Ohnbin Street and Bo Thura Street in Kyimyindine Township to arrest the suspect on the morning of 7 June following the tip-off. The suspect was at large and Security Forces seized four homemade grenades, one homemade bomb, a shirt and a longyi.
According to the report of a real estate broker, the suspect rented an apartment at K250,000 per month from April to July 2023. Security Forces arrested Aung Myin Thu (aka) Aung Hlaing Win at Myaynigon southern ward of Sanchaung Township on the evening of 8 June.
According to his confession, the suspects of the remote-mine explosion at IRD office Aung Myint Myat (aka) Pyae Phyo Aung (aka) Mood and Dhana Naung Win (aka) Shine Htet Ko Ko (aka) Roke in Mayangon Township on the same day.
Moreover, other suspects Kyaw Sithu (aka) Jack and Aung Khant Paing (aka) Willian were arrested in Hlaine Township and Dawbon townships on the 8 and 9 June evening.
A total of five male suspects were arrested and four homemade grenades and one homemade bomb were seized in this case.
According to the words of suspects, Aung Myin Thu (aka) Aung Hlaing Win introduced the leader of the Dark Shadow terrorist group Chan Nyein Thu (aka) Panda (still at large) and Nway Nway and Yathaw (still at large) of STF group to conduct terrorist attacks in the second week of June 2022.
According to the instruction of Nway Nway, Aung Myin Thu (aka) Aung Hlaing Win organized the nine-member Brave Eagle group comprising Kyaw Sithu (aka) Jack, Dana Naung Win (aka) Shine Htet Ko Ko (aka) Roke, Aung Myint Myat (aka) Pyae Phyo Aung (aka) Mood and Aung Khant Paing (aka) Willian in the first week of July 2022.
The Brave Eagle terrorist group committed seven bomb explosions in Yangon under the instructions of Nway Nway and Chan Nyein Thu (Panda).
The group exploded Ahlon Township Administrative Office on 7 July 2022, the vicinity area of the Traffic Police Office of Myaynigon Traffic light in Sangyaung Township on 12 July, Sangyaung Township Court on 15 July, South Okkalapa Township EPC Office on 21 August, car parking of National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Central Committee in Kamayut Township on 20 January 2023, People’s Square in Dagon Township on 9 April and third floor of IRD Office in Kyauktada Township on 5 June.
The suspects testified that Aung Myin Thu (aka) Aung Hlaing Win received K5 million from former NLD member fugitive Myo Yan Naung Thein (still at large) to purchase weapons in the third week of September 2022 and he transferred that money to Chan Nyein Thu (aka) Panda to purchase arms.
The suspects Nway Nway and Chan Nyein Thu (aka) Panda (still at large) awarded K100,000 to those who launched a bomb explosion one time and K30,000 to those who wait and watch the situation for attacks.
The Brave Eagle arranged to plant mines at the Mytel Tower in Bahan Township and USDP office in Dagon Myothit (East) Township in June 2023.
Offenders will face serious legal actions and people are requested to report to officials regarding the movement and actions of suspects. — MNA/KTZH
