Assistance provided for 4 closed IDP camps in Kachin State during April-June

The Kachin State chief minister meets internally displaced persons at the IDP camp in Myitkyina yesterday.

The Kachin State government is working together with various organizations to close the temporary IDP camps and resettle IDPs. A total of four IDP camps were closed and 712 households and 3,838 people were resettled from April to 5 June this year, according to the coordination meeting of the members of the state-level committee on the resettlement of IDPs and the closure of temporary shelters.
At the coordination meeting of the members of the state-level committee on the resettlement of IDPs and the closure of temporary shelters held at the office of the Kachin State government yesterday morning, Kachin State Chief Minister U Khat Htain Nan said that the IDPs were not only returned to their original villages and relocated to the housings built for them but they were also provided with the basic needs such as education and health services and called for coordinated efforts for the closure of IDP camps and rehabilitation work in the future.
Afterwards, the chief minister, together with state ministers and responsible personnel, proceeded to the IDP camp in Tatkon ward, met the families in four IDP camps in Myitkyina township who were going to return to their original villages and gave words of encouragement to them.
Then, the chief minister and party assisted in cash and kind, amounting to K4,445,871, to the families in three IDP camps in Dukahtaung ward who were going to return to their original villages in Myitkyina, Waingmaw, Momauk and Phakant townships. — State IPRD/MKKS
