Preparations made for animal feed for early arrival of summer

Preparations are being made to prevent the shortage of animal feed for the animals in sanctuaries due to the early arrival of summer this year, according to the All Myanmar Theravada Buddhists Federation and Sasana Nuggaha Association for Borders, Hilly Regions and Coastal Areas (Mandalay).
The officials fed them with vegetables donated by vendors from the nearby market as supplementary feed by using their trucks previously and now the animals are kept on natural pasture due to high transportation charges.
There are 11 sanctuaries — Setawlay sanctuary in Patheingyi Township, Setawgyi sanctuary in Madaya Township, Marle Nattaung sanctuary in Singu Township and Zayetkwin sanctuary in Thabeikkyin Township of Mandalay Region, Ywathitkalay sanctuary in Sagaing Kaunghmudaw, three sanctuaries in Dabayin, Aunglan monastery sanctuary in Aunglan Township, Kathitwine sanctuary in Bago Township and Khit Aye Parahita sanctuary in Zeyathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw — which are home to over 1,000 animals including cattle, goat, rabbit, duck, chicken, goose, guinea pig and pigeon.
“We collect straw in summer every year. The summer comes early this year. The grass dries out in wide sanctuaries. Therefore, we collect ration early. We also arrange to save more when the new paddy is produced,” said U Hla Win, chairman of All Myanmar Theravada Buddhists Federation and Sasana Nuggaha Association for Borders, Hilly Regions and Coastal Areas (Mandalay).
Those who want to make donations can contact 09 975 764 323, 09 402 692 522 and 09 660 850 399.— Aung Kyaw Kha(Mandalay/KTZH)
