77 inmates from Mandalay Central Prison freed from sentences

A total of 3,015 prisoners from prisons across the country were pardoned for their sentences in honour of the Myanmar New Year and on humanitarian grounds. Seventy-seven inmates from the Mandalay Central Prison were reportedly given an exemption from their punishment.
Minister for Transport Region Police Force Commander Police Brig-Gen Sein Lwin of Mandalay Region Government gave his speech to 77 inmates at the Mandalay Central Prison on the morning of 17 April.
Afterwards, 77 prisoners were released from prison after undergoing a medical examination and receiving travel expenses.
Similarly, 50 trainees from the Mandalay Youth Training School of the Social Welfare Department under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement in Aungmyaythazan Township, Mandalay Region were also released from punishment and returned to their respective parents/guardians.
A total of 130 prisoners from five prisons and 71 inmates from camps and 97 trainees from two youth training schools and the Women’s Vocational School in Mandalay Region were released under the amnesty order. – Maung Aye Chan/CT
