SAC Chairman PM Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspects progress of Shwenyaung-Taunggyi railway upgrading project

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing yesterday morning inspected the progress in the implementation of the Shwenyaung-Taunggyi railway upgrading project in Shan State (South).
Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communications Admiral Tin Aung San reported on filling earth, land preparations, quality control measures, the progress of work sections, placing of rail tracts, construction of the railway similar to the famous Bawa Thanthaya railway bridge in Shan State and future plans.
After hearing the reports, the Senior General said the Shwenyaung-Taunggyi railway upgrading project aims to benefit the local people, further develop trading of commodities, transport domestic minerals and products and attract travellers. In the future, the railway will be extended to the Pa-O region. The railway must be built systematically similar to the Bawa Thanthaya railway. Guard rails must be placed along the railways near the motor roads for ensuring safety. Moreover, the railway must be facilitated with toe walls, retaining walls, conduits and drains.
