Sugar mills purchase sugarcane at around K100,000 per tonne

In the local sugarcane market, starting from February 2023, companies announced that they will buy sugarcane at around K100,000 per tonne.
Mya Bayin Sugar Mill stated that starting from 3 February 2023, they will purchase sugarcane at K100,000 per tonne.
The Silver Pearl Sugar Company stated that in the 2022-23 financial year, sugarcane was purchased at the rate of K90,000 per tonne, and now it will be purchased at the rate of K95,000 per tonne, and the increase of K5,000 will be issued only after the sugarcane season. Maing Yal Sugar Mill also stated that it will increase the price of K90,000 per tonne of sugarcane from the previous price of K95,000.
At the beginning of this year, the price of sugarcane increased from K5,000 to K10,000 per tonne, and the price of sugarcane reached K95,000 to K100,000 per tonne. However, some farmers said that some sugar mills only pay around K75,000 per tonne of sugarcane. — TPT/GNLM
