Illegal timbers, feedstuff, precursor chemicals, foodstuff, electrical accessories, vehicles confiscated

Supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
On-duty teams under the management of the Customs Department confiscated electronic equipment worth K3,924,610 that did not claim designated date from the warehouse of at the Yangon International Airport and brooms and related items worth K4,572,120 that do not match with the import declaration at Hteedan port on 9 December. Action was taken under Customs Procedures.
Similarly, combined inspection teams under the management of Bago Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force conducted a surprise check along the Myawady-Yangon road and nabbed 28,500 kilogrammes of monosodium glutamate branded EPPEN worth K65.835 million and a vehicle with a trailer worth K70 million carrying that monosodium glutamate. Action was taken under Customs procedures. A combined team led by region Forest Department seized 10.804 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K4,510,176 and action was taken under the Forest Law.
On 10 December, a combined inspection team made an inspection under the management of illegal trade eradication task force of Kachin State at Nantsiaung combined checkpoint in Mohnyin Township. During the inspection, 8,000 kilos of ammonium nitrate, and four vehicles valued at K248 million were seized at the checkpoint, and action was taken under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
A combined inspection team led by Insein District illegal trade eradication task force and Mingaladon District Police Force conducted inspection under the management of illegal trade eradication task force of Yangon Region at the junction of No 3 highway checkpoint on Yangon-Bago road. The inspection team seized 69 bullocks and two vehicles worth K228 million. Action was taken under the Essential Supplies and Services Law.
Therefore, 15 arrests (approximately K624,841,906) were made on 9 and 10 December, according to the Steering Committee. — MNA/KZL
