Govt introduces Manifest Form along trade routes to curb illicit trading

The Manifest Form system is launched for trade routes to control and prevent illegal trade, according to Myanmar Highway Freight Transport Service Entrepreneurs Association.
The Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee implemented the procedures of Manifest Form to identify the local trucks and export/import trucks and for conducting checks at inspection camps easily, controlling and preventing illegal trade and to be exact from systems of each truck on 1 December and the committee informed the association on 25 November.
The pilot project for Manifest Form was launched on 1 December for six months on Myawady-Yangon and Muse-Mandalay trade routes, according to the statement of the Customs Department under the Ministry of Planning and Finance released on 25 November.
The statement said the Manifest granted by each organization will be compiled on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and the difficulties, weaknesses, advantages and suggestions for using the form will be recorded.
The members must follow the instructions of Manifest and can get the forms at Myanmar Highway Freight Transport Service Entrepreneurs Association.
The Manifest Form is available at Myanmar Highway Freight Transportation Service Entrepreneurs Association in Yangon, Mandalay, Kayin State-Myawady border, northern Shan State-Muse border, southern Shan State-Taunggyi, Bago Region, Myitkyina of Kachin State.
The Manifest expresses the type of products, amount, packaging system and prices in detail and it can pass the inspection camps easily without delays. Officials will open only the suspected products so it can reduce the losses. Moreover, the Manifest can build trust between authorities, owners and organizations. — NN/KTZH
