Military doctors continues second day of first liver transplant marking Diamond Jubilee Medical Corps Day

Military doctors performed the second day of the first liver transplant at the special treatment centre of Defence Services General Hospital (1000-bed) in Mingaladon Township of Yangon Region yesterday marking the Diamond Jubilee Medical Corps Day which will fall on 1 October.
The liver transplant was conducted on the recipient Daw Khin Thuzar Myo and liver donor Daw Kay Thi Myint.
The surgeons took out the liver from the donor at 8 am yesterday and the operation took about 12 hours. The liver donor and the patient are in good condition and under the medical treatment of specialists.
Maj-Gen Ko Ko Lwin, Director of the Directorate of the Medical Services under the office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and officials of GI and Liver Foundation (Myanmar) watched the liver transplant operation.
The health conditions of two patients who underwent the liver transplant Tuesday are improving under the proper medical treatment of medics. — MNA
