A total of 173 Myanmar migrant workers, 123 males and 50 females, who had done time in Thailand for various reasons, arrived in Kawthoung on 27 August via Ranong, Thailand by boat.
It is reported that they were handed over to the responsible organizations. Myanmar migrant workers were stuck in Thailand for various reasons during the COVID-19 outbreak and were being prosecuted.
Kawthoung District and Township Administration officials, Public Health Departments and departmental staff and NGOs are examining the COVID-19 infection. Imported and local transmission were also screened for the virus and provided with food, healthcare, and necessary assistance.
Those who had been vaccinated twice received the third dose while those who had never been vaccinated or vaccinated once were tested for infection. They have to undergo surveillance for three days separated by men and women at three quarantine centres in Kawthoung. Then, they will return to their homes unless they are infected.
Similarly, officials of Mae Sai, Thailand, led by the immigration officer, handed over 46 Myanmar citizens in Tachilek township at 10 am on 29 August via the No 2 Thailand-Myanmar bridge. — TWA/GNLM
