Online e-Visa (Tourist) application to be resumed on 20 May

The online e-Visa (Tourist) application will be allowed starting on 20 May to have a harmonized tourism with the neighbouring countries, according to the statement of the Ministry of Immigration and Population.
The online e-Visa (Business) service for foreign investors and entrepreneurs was resumed on 1 April.
The online e-Visa (Tourist) applications will be accepted beginning on 20 May. The ministry resumes e-Visa services suspended for over two years due to the outbreak of COVID-19 by discussing with a local company.
Moreover, the international flights were also permitted to resume their operations in line with COVID-19 health rules, and the country receives regular tourist arrivals now.
The GDP contribution to Myanmar’s tourism was six per cent before the COVID-19 outbreak, according to the World Travel and Tourism Council. The online e-Visa (Tourist) can be applied at https://evisa.moip.gov.mm.
The online e-Visa (tourist) system is developed in 100 countries and e-Visa (Business) in 55 countries, and was suspended on 23 March 2020. — TWA/GNLM
