Illegal timbers, consumer goods and vehicles seized

Supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, action is being taken under the law against unlawful trades across the country.
On 1 May, a combined inspection team led by the Customs Department under the supervision of the Mandalay Region Anti-Illegal Trade Special Task Force conducted inspections at the 16th-mile checkpoint in Mandalay. It confiscated K20,210,000 worth of illegal consumer goods that did not show any official documents from a Nissan UD 6-wheel truck (estimated value of K15,000,000) near the Tollgate at exit of the detour. The action was taken under the Customs Law.
The Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint of Mon State also captured an express bus carrying illegal M-150 energy drink bottles (estimated value of K1,950,000) heading to Yangon from Myawady under the Customs Law.
Similarly, on 2 May, 1.2964 tonnes of illegal timbers (estimated value of K145,478) were seized in Pyu Township in Toungoo District.
In addition, K125,000 worth of illegal timbers and related things were seized in Kanbalu Township, and action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, on 1 and 2 May, six arrests were made (an estimated value of K37,430,478), according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
