Illegal cosmetics, foodstuffs, teak and vehicles seized

Supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
On 24 April, a combined inspection team led by the Region Forest Department conducted a joint inspection by the Yangon Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force.
A total of 3.3450 tonnes of illegal teak and one vehicle carrying those items (estimated at K15,000,000) and a total estimated value of K16,003,500 were seized in Hmawby Township, Yangon North District. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
Similarly, a combined inspection team under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted inspections at the Area (9), Indin checkpoint, Maungdaw Township, on 24 April.
Thirty-five gold nuggets worth about K700,000,000 were seized from a vehicle driving from Angumaw to Maungtaw. The action was taken under the Import and Export Law.
Similarly, a combined inspection team led by the Department of Forest conducted an inspection by the Rakhine State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force on 25 April, and 2.9854 tonnes of illegal timbers (approximately K208,978) in the Sarpyin forest reserve were seized. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
In addition, a joint inspection team on duty at the Mayanchaung Permanent Inspection Post under the management of the Customs Department conducted inspections on 27 April.
A total of one truckload of beers (estimated at K11,200,000) and one truckload of undocumented beers (approximately K16,000,000) were seized and the action was taken in line with the Customs procedures.
Similarly, a combined inspection team led by the Customs Department conducted inspections at the 16th-Mile Kyaukchaw Inspection Station, Mandalay Region under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force.
During the inspection, cosmetics (estimated at K1,680,000) without any official documents were seized. The action was taken according to the Customs procedures.
Therefore, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, six arrests (estimated at K745,092,478) were made on 24, 25, and 27 April. — MNA
