Palin Riverview Elephant Camp in NyaungU Township, Mandalay, is bustling with elephant lovers, said a person in charge of the elephant camp.
Palin Riverview Elephant Camp, operated by the Myanma Timber Enterprise under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, is opened beside the Ayeyawady riverbank. It is located near Palin village on the Myingyan-Pakokku Road in NyaungU Township. Visitors dropped in on the camp during their trip to the Bagan ancient cultural zone.
Elephant lovers can relax at the recreation sites and viewpoints at the camp, including a jetty and treehouse to view the Ayeyawady River, camps along the river, playgrounds and other facilities. Visitors can watch the elephant bathing and observe the livelihood, habitat, behaviour and characteristics of the Asian and African elephants at the elephant museum, featuring the structure of elephants and elephant tusks and the signboards, Saw Wah Wah, a warden.
There are 22 elephant camps across the country, and elephant lovers can treat buffets to the elephants. They can also donate to the elephants via the camp’s official Facebook page.
