Illegal timbers, foodstuffs, utensils, handsets, construction tools and unregistered vehicles seized

Managed by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, action is being taken against illegal trades under the law.
On 29 March, the port duty inspection team led by the Department of Customs carried out inspections at Asia World Port Terminal and construction tools (estimated at K31,599,000), imported in violation of import licences, were seized, and action was taken under the Customs Law.
Similarly, the port duty inspection team led by the Department of Customs carried out inspections at the Myanmar Industrial Port Container Inspection Station, and household appliances (estimated at K63,950,000) imported in violation of import licences were seized and action was taken under the Customs Law.
The port duty inspection team led by the Department of Customs carried out inspections at the Yangon International Airport cargo warehouse, and medicines and cosmetics (estimated at K4,442,160), imported in violation of import licences, were seized, and action was taken under the Customs Law.
In addition, a combined inspection team under the management of the Mandalay Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force carried out inspections in the markets. It seized various smartphones (estimated at K48,418,500) that did not show any official documents, and action was taken in accordance with the Customs Law.
On 31 March, a combined inspection team led by the Forest Department under the management of the Bago Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force carried out inspections, and illegal timbers of 41.5162 tonnes (estimated at K4,732,926) in Bago, Toungoo, Pyay and Thayawady District Forest Reserves were seized, and action was taken under the Forest Law.
A combined inspection team under the management of the Sagaing Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force carried out inspections and seized foodstuffs and utensils (estimated at K5,688,000) that had no official documents in a vehicle and prosecuted them under the Import and Export Law.
Similarly, a combined inspection team under the management of the Magway Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force carried out inspections. An unregistered vehicle (estimated at K2,000,000) in Magway District and six trucks with illegally diesel barrels (estimated at K90,000,000) in Minbu and Pakokku Districts, a total of K92,000,000, were seized. Action is taken under the Petroleum Products Law.
Therefore, 18 arrests (estimated value of K250,830,586) were made on 29, 30 and 31 March, according to Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
