Myanmar attends 40th ASEANAPOL Conference held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia

a Myanmar delegation consisting of Senior Police Officers led by Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Chief of the Myanmar Police Force Lt-Gen Than Hlaing attended the 40th ASEANAPOL Conference held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from 1 to 4 March.
The conference was also joined by Chief and Senior Officers of the Police Force from 10 ASEAN member countries, Executive Director and Senior Police Officers of the ASEAN Police Secretariat, Police Chiefs and Senior Police Officers from partner organizations/nation: INTERPOL, China, Japan, South Korea, Russia, New Zealand, Turkey, Great Britain, Australia; study partner countries/organizations: International Association of Chiefs of Police-IACP, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) based in the US, Canada and France.
The conference held the meeting of 11th Executive Committee on 1 March. On 2 March, the opening ceremony of the 40th ASEAN Police Conference, First Plenary Meeting, Meeting of Leaders of Delegation of ASEAN Police Member States, Meeting of Leaders of Delegations from ASEAN Police Member States and Dialogue Parties, Commission A, B, C meetings were held.
On 3 March, a golf tournament between the leaders of the ASEAN Police and a golf tournament between golf teams was held. On 4 March, the Second Plenary Session and the Closing Ceremony of the 40th ASEAN Police Conference were held.
The Commission A, B, C meetings discussed mutual assistance in criminal matters such as drug trafficking, violence, arms smuggling, human trafficking, wildlife crimes, maritime frauds, business fraud, cyber-crime, forgery of travel documents, and matters related to ASEAN Police Capacity Building Programme and forensic science linkages.
On 3 March, Police Colonel Zaw Lin Tun of the Myanmar Police Force took over as Executive Director of the ASEAN Police Secretariat from Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Singapore Jim Wee at the handover ceremony held at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel. Myanmar Police Force will be the Executive Director of the ASEAN Police Secretariat from 2022 to 2023.
The Myanmar delegation left Phnom Penh on 5 March and arrived back in Yangon on the evening of 6 March, it is reported. — MNA
