The Yangon Aerodrome Company (YACL) offered the services of the Yangon International Airport in collaboration with the Department of Civil Aviation, and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and provided services to 723,540 passengers and 20,991 flights in 2021, according to YACL.
The YACL cooperated with the partner organizations to resume the international flights as quickly as possible and provided the information regarding the restrictions on arrival/departure on a country basis at the airport.
The Yangon International Airport provided services to 6,504,845 passengers in 2019 and 1,828,082 passengers in 2020. The world tourism industry faced COVID-19 impacts for two years and the airport suspended the international flights temporarily starting March 2020.
Despite the international flight suspensions, the Yangon International Airport operated relief flights and cargo flights. The airport staff and aviation organizations promoted the image of the airport by serving as a bridge for the COVID-19 vaccine-related matters. Moreover, it launched a health check centre where passengers can take COVID-19 tests within one hour and undergo 150 PCRT Tests. It followed the standards and instructions of local/foreign health organizations.
