MoI Union Minister holds meeting on literature, music and film arenas

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn held separate meetings with officials from the Myanmar Encyclopedia Revision Team, Interim Executive Committee of Myanmar Music Association, and the Interim Executive Committee of the Myanmar Motion Picture Organization yesterday in Yangon.
At the meeting with the Myanmar Encyclopedia Revision Team in the morning, the Union Minister discussed the update of the volume (I) of the Myanmar Encyclopedia according to the latest situations, and coordinated business arrangements for initial publication and distribution plans.
Afterwards, he met with the officials from the Interim Executive Committee of Myanmar Music Association. He said that the necessary matters must be discussed and coordinated to accelerate the musical works by bringing together musicians under the leadership of the association. The Prime Minister also values the musicians and gave instructions to provide necessary assistance for them, he added. He also called on the association to discuss practical issues.
Chairman of the association U Lwin Myint then presented the formation of the music association at the township level, welfare for the musicians, arrangement for concerts, preparation of the association to effectively participate in the Myanmar’s Performing Arts Competitions with the panel of judges and the prescribed music issues.
In the afternoon, the Union Minister met with officials from the Interim Myanmar Motion Picture Organization. He said that plans are made to resume cinema-related activities soon and it would be more successful if the people are involved rather than the government alone in overcoming the current situation, adding the need for the people to properly analyze the current political situation.
Art is the only thing that can bring happiness to the people, he continued. The government is now making plans to complete the construction of art centres, as well as to establish a Literati Beikman. He said the Ministry will provide necessary assistance to resume the suspended artistic works and reopen cinemas.—MNA
