Forest Dept seizes 424 tonnes of timber

The Forest Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation adopts the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS) to curb the illegal timber and forest products.
According to the data collected between 10 and 16 January, the department seized a total of 424.9304 tonnes of illegal timber – 123.4398 tonnes of teak, 34.0278 tonnes of hardwood and 267.4628 tonnes of others in regions/states and Nay Pyi Taw and arrested 36 suspects with 26 vehicles, the department stated. —Nyi Nyi Than (Nay Pyi Taw)/GNLM
