A total of 400 Myanmar nationals from Laos came back home through land borders on 16 October, officials said.
On 16 October, 249 males and 151 females came back home from Wang Pong Port, Mongphone (A) Village Tract, Tachilek, Eastern Shan State.
Healthcare officials from relevant public hospitals and members of the Tatmadaw Medical Corps conducted COVID-19 tests and provided quarantine entry documents for the returnees.
With the supervision of the Prevention, Control and Treatment Committee for COVID-19, the returnees were diagnosed with RDT Rapid Test Kit.
According to the test results, the COVID-19 virus was detected by one male and he will stay in COVID-19 Centre to receive further medical treatment.
The remaining 399 returnees are being kept in separate areas and the necessary medical and administrative matters are being coordinated, officials said.
A total of 3,671 Myanmar migrant workers have been received from Laos since 30 July, and officials in Tachilek have been able to help them reach their respective destinations and arrange for the vehicles to be repatriated. — Yar Say (IPRD)
