8th SSMNC plenary meeting continues on final day

The 17th plenary meeting of the eighth 47-member State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee in progress at Maha Pasana Cave on Kaba Aye Hill in Yangon yesterday.

The 17th plenary meeting of the eighth 47-member State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee continued at Maha Pasana Cave on Kaba Aye Hill in Yangon yesterday morning.
The meeting was presided over by SSMNC Chairman Aggamahapandita Aggamaha Saddhammajotikadhaja Dr Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa.
Venerable members of the Sangha discussed the report of the fifth term of the first branch of SSMNC concerning Vinicchaya, religious affairs, and education matters. In the afternoon, the meeting also discussed Vinicchaya, religious affairs, and education.
Venerable members of the Sangha also responded to discussions over the report of the first branch of the committee.
Joint Secretary of SSMNC Aggamaha Ganthavacaka Pandita Aggamaha Saddhammajotikadhaja Bhaddanta Paññadhaja sought approval for the report of the first branch of SSMNC.
The meeting successfully ended in the afternoon.
The meeting was also attended by Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin, directors general of the Religious Affairs Department and Department of Promotion and Propagation of the Sasana, the pro-rector of International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University and officials.
Those attendee members of the Sangha were served meals by the Abbot of Kyaikkasan Wailuwun (Shwegyin) Monastery of Thingangyun Township Maha Saddhammajotikadhaja Bhaddanta Manita and disciples. — MNA/TTA
