The Department of Rural Development grants cash to rural households.

According to the Department of Rural Development, 85 villages in Kyaiklat Township will start implementing the Emerald Green Village Project.
Among the 421 villages in the township, 85 villages have implemented the project. The project was launched in the 2014-2015 financial year with a combined budget of K431.25 million from states and regions.
The project has been implemented in 12,475 villages until the 2023-2024 financial year. The purpose of the project is to provide employment opportunities to the rural people, reduce poverty by increasing family income, and enable the village community to implement the measures that are really needed by the villages themselves with the increased interest money.
In addition, the Department of Rural Development, in coordination with domestic and foreign experts, strives to implement sustainable rural development activities in a people-centred manner in the rural development strategy framework.
According to surveys conducted by organizations in Myanmar, about 75 per cent of rural households need interest-free loans or low-interest loans to increase their livelihood and family income. — TWA/KZL
