A team of officials from the Thailand Immigration Department, led by Myanmar Labor Attache U Kyaw Soe Wai, handed over 78 migrant workers to Myanmar authorities on Wednesday evening at the Kawthoung border gate.
The workers — 72 men and 6 women — were expelled to Myanmar after they were found with expired visas and without proper documentation.
Officials from the General Administration Department, Labour, Immigration and Population Department, Anti-Trafficking in Person Police, Labour Department, and Disaster Management Department received the workers and provided them some necessary healthcare. Afterwards, officials from the concerned departments sent the workers back to their homes. — Kyaw Soe (Kawthoung)
