5th National Sports Festival to be held on grand scale

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn delivers the speech at the meeting of the Working Committee on Organizing the Opening and Closing of National Sports Festival yesterday.

The 5th National Sports Festival will be held at national level on the grandest scale as it grabs an opportunity to show patriotism and national spirit, said Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, who is also Chairman of the Working Committee on Organizing the Opening and Closing Events, at the committee’s second meeting yesterday.
In his speech, he noted that the festival is held aiming at turning out new generation athletes who will bring honour to the State, and the opening and closing ceremonies will be organized on a grand scale with full essence for the entire people to be proud of it.
He continued that the opening event will be conducted with reference to the opening ceremony of the 27th SEA Games hosted by Myanmar in 2013. The sound and lighting systems will present the traditional culture and be a positive force for the development of the country, and unity and patriotism will also be achieved.
He also urged officials to organize experts from relevant arenas and artistes to actively participate in the opening and closing ceremonies of the sports festival.
Then, the secretary of the committee and other attendees discussed event planning, stage design, opening and closing event plans, performance, technological matters and access to electricity. After hearing the reports, the Union minister concluded the meeting. — MNA/KTZH
