28,745 domestic tourists visit Omadanti Beach in May

According to U Soe Win, Deputy Director of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism (Ayeyawady Region), 28,745 domestic tourists visited Omadanti Beach in Ayeyawady Region in May.
Most of the travellers to Omadanti Beach in Danubyu Township, Ayeyawady Region, reportedly come from Yangon Region for a day trip.
“Within the Ayeyawady Region, the shore near Danubyu Township has the highest number of daily visitors from Yangon Region. It is not an sea beach but a sandy shore along the Ayeyawady River. During the Thingyan Festival, 21,155 domestic tourists visited the shore on day trips. In March, 16,775 domestic tourists visited, and 26,755 visited in April. The number of tourists visiting the shore is increasing every month,” said U Soe Win.
At present, travellers are provided with services to ensure a safe and peaceful visit. These services include bicycle rental, motorbike rental, and horse rental. Additionally, market stalls have been set up to sell local food, accessories, and souvenirs.
The beach was opened in 2011 and is popular among locals due to its proximity to the pagoda built by Princess Ohnmadanti. — ASH/TKO
