23 Myanmar nationals return home through Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge 2 on 5 May

A total of 23 Myanmar migrant workers returned home from Thailand through the Myawady Friendship Bridge (2) at 6:30 pm on 5 May, according to an official report.
The bridge was opened for Myanmar migrant workers from 6 am to 6 pm on 5 May. However, only 23 Myanmar nationals could enter only on 6:30 pm with a special permission of the Kayin State Government, officials added.

“Myanmar and Thai authorities discussed the issue of returnees. Some Myanmar workers need to wait for approval from Thailand and we have received permission at 5:45 pm. The bridge will be closed at 6 pm. Thus, we reported to the Kayin State Government to extend the opening hour of the bridge for Myanmar nationals,” said Kayin State Hluttaw representative U Thant Zin Maung on 5 May.
A total of 182 Myanmar migrant workers have returned to Myanmar from 1 to 5 May , but no returnee on 6 May.
