A Farmer’s Forum was held at the Department of Agricultural Research in Yezin, Zeyathiri Township in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation Dr Tin Htut emphasized the need for researchers, experts, and officials to foster robust connections between farmers and experts. He highlighted the significance of innovative approaches, advocating for the seamless exchange of agricultural insights through platforms like the Farmer Channel and various social media avenues. Dr Tin Htut underscored the forum’s role as a collaborative “Smart Movement”, uniting researchers, experts, and officials in their shared mission to enhance the well-being of farmers and drive agricultural prosperity.
Subsequently, Deputy Minister U Bo Bo Kyaw urged the Water User Groups (WUG) to unite and translate their collaboration into tangible actions. He emphasized the WUG’s potential to evolve into a formidable organization that spans the entire production chain, enabling the cultivation of crops requiring minimal water yet yielding substantial profits.
Attendees then coordinated the discussion. The Farmer’s Forum will be held every Saturday. – MNA/KTZH
