Omadanti and Shwethaungyan beaches host 32,712 domestic visitors over Thingyan

Omadanti Beach and Shwethaungyan Beach in Pathein Township, Ayeyawady Region, welcomed a combined total of 32,712 domestic visitors during the Maha Thingyan period, as reported by U Soe Win, Assistant Director of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism (Ayeyawady Region).
Currently, both domestic and foreign visitors frequent the beach resorts in Ayeyawady Region daily, including Chaungtha, Ngwehsaung, Ngwetaung, Shwethaungyan, Goyangyi Island, and Mawtinsun.
“The number of visitors seeking relaxation at nearly all beaches in Ayeyawady Region has significantly increased during this Thingyan period compared to previous years. Omadanti Beach near Danuphyu, which is relatively lesser-known, has attracted the most day-trippers from Yangon Region. In reality, it is not a beach but a sandbank in the Ayeyawady River. During the Thingyan period, 21,155 domestic travellers visited it. A total of 11,557 domestic and foreign tourists visited the well-known Shwethaungyan Beach near Pathein during Thingyan,” said U Soe Win. — ASH/MKKS
